At St. Philip Neri-St. Albert the Great we recognize that Evangelization is the core mission of the Church; the reason that the Church exists. In other words, Jesus established His Church as a means of strengthening/ sanctifying believers and for the mission; that we might "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that (He) has commanded us." (Matt. 28:19) Evangelization is the central mission of the Catholic Church and Jesus has called each of us as Baptized Catholic Christians to participate in this mission.
The word "Evangelization" comes from the Greek term, "evangelion" which means Good News. We seek to share the Good News of Jesus Christ through who we are and what we do. As our Diocesan pastoral plan states: "To know Jesus Christ and to make Him better known."
We base our evangelization ministry on the U.S. Bishops' document, "Go and Make Disciples: A National Plan & Strategy for Catholic Evangelization in the United States" which is comprised of three major goals.
